Gibson Direct sees vehicle authorisation cut by TC

first_imgThe O-Licence held by Renfrew-based Gibson Direct has been cut from 39 vehicles to 36 by Traffic Commissioner (TC) Claire Gilmore.Though refusing an application by former Director and Transport Manager (TM) Robert Gibson to be nominated as Gibson Direct TM, she indicated that she would accept him as a Director of the company. In 2015, the Gibson Direct licence was cut from 39 vehicles to 30 for a period of three months and four days by TC Joan Aitken after the company had allowed discs to be used by Thomas Withers, a disqualified operator.Ms Aitken also found that Robert Gibson had lost his repute as TM, disqualifying him from acting as such for 12 months. She also found that he did not have the necessary repute to be a Director of a company that held a PSV O-Licence.The company and Mr Gibson had been called before TC Gilmore at an Edinburgh Public Inquiry to examine what he had done following the end of his disqualification period to update his skills, how he would be involved in the business going forward and how he intended to carry out the duties of TM.After considering evidence from Mr Gibson, which included that he had last had CPC training in 2015, Ms Gilmore was not satisfied that she could approve his nomination to the role of TM.The company then indicated its intention to nominate an alternative TM, Aivars Vaiculis. The TC said she was minded to grant that application, subject to the relevant checks being made.Following undertakings that there would be an independent audit of the company’s systems and that further financial evidence would be provided, the TC concluded that the company’s repute was tarnished, but not lost.last_img read more
